Sept 2-4, Thursday-Saturday Cradle of Hope Pregnancy Resource Center in the E-3 CENTER in MT. PLEASANT (Washington Street) is having a food tent in the parking lot at the E-3 Center to raise funds to support the pregnancy center. October 2, Saturday, 7 am - Noon 3rd Annual 12:1 Run - including a Kids Race, 5K and 10K Runs and a Half-Marathon Run: a Benefit for Hays Pure Water for All Foundation, held in DANVILLE at HARMONY BIBLE CHURCH on Hwy 79, approximately 12 miles due west of Burlington, IA. The name "12:1Run" is taken from Hebrews 12:1, which says, "Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us." In the past two years, the run has been able to purchase water filters that quenched the thirst of 185,000 people! One well costing $500 will provide fresh water for 5000 people for 5 years. Children through senior citizens are encouraged to participate and can run or walk the course of choice. A "Run Health & Fitness Expo" is available Friday, Oct 10, 4-7pm or Saturday, Oct. 2, 7-Noon.
